PROCEDURES IN DEPOSITING COPIES OF BOOKS AND OTHER PRINTED MATERIALS
- Publishers, whether private or government, must deposit with
TNL two free copies of a book publication after one month from the
date it is first delivered out of press. Said copies must be the
best copies printed. "Book" refers to all printed literary works,
musical arrangements, catalogues, periodicals, government
publications, prints, photographs, drawings and other graphic
arts, maps, plans, charts, and tables and all supplements
thereto... made available for sale or free distribution to the
general public, but shall not include legal documents, printed
forms, trade circulars, timetables, and other commercial documents
(PD 812).
- Government or government-controlled publishers must deposit
with TNL gratis fifty copies of all printed materials or documents
published.
- In case you do not go to TNL, prepare to give the required
free copies deposit whenever TNL staff visit your publishing
company.
- Secure an acknowledgement receipt of your deposit from the
Collection Development Division of TNL. This is not compulsory,
however, but depends on you needs. In occasions when a case
arises in relation to your publication, the acknowledgement
receipt is most important.
- Pay to the Cashier's Office in the Administrative Division of
TNL the amount of ten pesos (P10.00) each time you deposit copies
of a publication.
- You pay a fine of P50.00 to P500.00 in case of non-fulfillment
of the deposit, whether partial or total. You are also obliged to
deliver to TNL free copies of the publication in question. In the
event a publication is no longer available, you provide TNL a
reproduction of the work, or its value, in addition to the above
fine.
